CVSS v3.1

7.8

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions OpenEXR version 2.2.0
Description The issue is related to a heap-based buffer over-read in the hufDecode function during exrmaketiled execution. This may result in denial of service or possibly other unspecified impacts. Exploitation of the vulnerability could allow a remote attacker to access confidential information or cause a denial of service.
Recommendations For OpenEXR version 2.2.0, consider disabling the hufDecode function as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to the exrmaketiled execution to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
