CVE-2017-6463

CVSS v2.0

6.8

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:S/C:N/I:N/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions NTP versions prior to 4.2.8p10 NTP versions 4.3.x prior to 4.3.94
Description The issue exists due to insufficient input validation in the unpeer option of the NTP protocol implementation. It allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service, specifically a daemon crash, by providing an invalid value in the :config directive.
Recommendations For NTP versions prior to 4.2.8p10, update to version 4.2.8p10 or later. For NTP versions 4.3.x prior to 4.3.94, update to version 4.3.94 or later. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the :config directive to minimize the risk of exploitation.
