CVE-2017-14107

CVSS v2.0

7.1

High

VectorAV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions libzip versions prior to 1.3.0
Description The issue is related to the zip read eocd64 function in the zip open.c component of the libzip library, which handles zip archives. It is associated with uncontrolled memory allocation. Exploitation of this issue allows a remote attacker to cause a denial of service. This can be achieved by sending a crafted ZIP archive, which mishandles EOCD records and leads to a memory allocation failure in the zip cdir grow function in zip dirent.c.
Recommendations For versions prior to 1.3.0, update to version 1.3.0 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the handling of ZIP archives from untrusted sources to minimize the risk of exploitation.
