CVE-2018-3074
CVSS v2.0
5.4
Medium
| Vector | AV:N/AC:H/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Oracle MySQL versions 8.0.11 and prior
Description
The issue is related to insufficient access control in the MySQL Server component, specifically in the Server: Security: Roles subcomponent. This allows an attacker with network access via multiple protocols to compromise the MySQL Server. Successful attacks can result in the unauthorized ability to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash (complete DOS) of the MySQL Server. The exploitation can be done by an attacker acting remotely using the MySQL protocol.
Recommendations
For versions 8.0.11 and prior, update to a version later than 8.0.11 to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting network access to the MySQL Server to minimize the risk of exploitation.
Fix
Improper Access Control
