Description:
The issue is related to the
bfd make section with flags function in the section.c component of the GNU Binutils library. It allows remote attackers to cause a NULL dereference via a crafted file, potentially leading to unauthorized access to confidential data, disruption of data integrity, and denial of service.Recommendations:
For GNU Binutils versions 2.29 and earlier, consider updating to a newer version to mitigate the risk, as the
bfd make section with flags function in the affected versions may be exploited.
