CVE-2016-10220

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Ghostscript version 9.20
Description The issue allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service, resulting in a NULL pointer dereference and application crash, via a crafted file that is mishandled in the PDF Transparency module. This occurs due to a problem in the gs makewordimagedevice function.
Recommendations For Ghostscript version 9.20, consider disabling the gs makewordimagedevice function as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to the PDF Transparency module to minimize the risk of exploitation.
