Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Juniper E Series routers with IPv6 licensed and enabled (affected versions not specified)
Description
The issue is triggered by the receipt of a specifically malformed IPv6 packet, which may cause a line card reset due to a processor exception in the scheduler task. This can lead to an extended service outage if additional malformed packets are received. The issue only affects E Series routers that are configured to process IPv6 traffic. There have been no reported cases of malicious exploitation of this issue.
Recommendations
For E Series routers with IPv6 licensed and enabled, consider disabling IPv6 processing as a temporary workaround until a fix is available. Restrict access to the router to minimize the risk of exploitation.
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
