| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel versions prior to 4.14.11
Description
The issue is related to the tcp v6 syn recv sock function in the Linux kernel, which allows attackers to cause a denial of service or possibly have other impacts via vectors involving TLS. This is due to a slab out-of-bounds write in the net/ipv6/tcp ipv6.c file. The vulnerability can be exploited by a remote attacker to cause a denial of service or other unspecified effects.
Recommendations
For Linux kernel versions prior to 4.14.11, update to a version 4.14.11 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the affected function until a patch is available.
