CVE-2017-13208

CVSS v3.1

10

Critical

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Android versions 5.1.1 through 8.1
Description The issue is related to a function receive packet in libnetutils/packet.c where there is a missing bounds check on the DHCP response, potentially leading to an out-of-bounds write. This could allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code in the context of a privileged process without needing additional execution privileges. User interaction is not required for exploitation.
Recommendations For Android versions 5.1.1 through 8.1, as a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of the receive packet function in libnetutils/packet.c until a patch is available. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
