CVE-2018-1169

CVSS v3.1

8.8

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Amazon Music Player version 6.1.5.1213
Description This issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on vulnerable installations. User interaction is required, where the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The flaw exists within the processing of URI handlers due to the lack of proper validation of a user-supplied string before using it to execute a system call. An attacker can leverage this to execute code under the context of the current process.
Recommendations For Amazon Music Player version 6.1.5.1213, as a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of URI handlers until a patch is available. Avoid using potentially malicious URI handlers in the affected Amazon Music Player version until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
