| Vector | AV:L/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
MatrixSSL versions prior to 3.9.6
Description
The issue allows a memory-cache side-channel attack on ECDSA signatures, also known as the Return Of the Hidden Number Problem or ROHNP. An attacker can discover an ECDSA key if they have access to either the local machine or a different virtual machine on the same physical host.
Recommendations
For MatrixSSL versions prior to 3.9.6, update to version 3.9.6 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to sensitive ECDSA key material to minimize the risk of exploitation.
