Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Android versions prior to 2018-04-05
Description
The issue is caused by a buffer overflow in the Linux kernel of the Android operating system. This can allow a remote attacker to impact the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected information. The estimated number of potentially affected devices worldwide is not specified.
Recommendations
For Android versions prior to 2018-04-05, ensure that any users of
qsee log in the bootchain unallocate their buffers and clear the qsee log pointer. Until support for that is implemented in TZ and the bootloader, enable tz log to avoid potential scribbling. This solution will prevent the Linux kernel memory corruption.Fix
