CVE-2018-14288

CVSS v3.1

8.8

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Foxit Reader version 9.0.1.1049
Description This issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on vulnerable installations. User interaction is required, where the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The flaw exists within the handling of arguments passed to the setFocus function, resulting from the lack of proper validation of user-supplied data, which can lead to a type confusion condition. An attacker can leverage this to execute code under the context of the current process.
Recommendations For Foxit Reader version 9.0.1.1049, as a temporary workaround, consider disabling the setFocus function until a patch is available. Restrict access to potentially malicious files and web pages to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
