CVE-2018-14290

CVSS v3.1

8.8

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Foxit Reader version 9.0.1.5096
Description This issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on vulnerable installations. User interaction is required, where the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The flaw exists within the parsing of PDF documents due to the lack of proper validation of the length of user-supplied data prior to copying it to a heap-based buffer. An attacker can leverage this to execute code under the context of the current process.
Recommendations For Foxit Reader version 9.0.1.5096, consider updating to a newer version that addresses this issue, as the current version allows for remote code execution due to a heap-based buffer overflow in PDF parsing. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
