CVE-2018-1094

CVSS v2.0

7.1

High

VectorAV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel versions through 4.15.15
Description The issue is related to the ext4 fill super function in the Linux kernel, which does not always initialize the crc32c checksum driver. This allows attackers to cause a denial of service via a crafted ext4 image, resulting in a system crash due to a NULL pointer dereference in ext4 xattr inode hash.
Recommendations For Linux kernel versions through 4.15.15, update to a version that initializes the crc32c checksum driver properly to prevent the denial of service. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
