CVE-2018-14318

CVSS v3.1

8.8

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Samsung Galaxy S8 version G950FXXU1AQL5
Description This issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on vulnerable installations. User interaction is required, as the target must have their cellular radios enabled. The flaw exists within the handling of IPCP headers due to the lack of proper validation of the length of user-supplied data prior to copying it to a fixed-length, stack-based buffer. An attacker can leverage this to execute code under the context of the baseband processor.
Recommendations For Samsung Galaxy S8 version G950FXXU1AQL5, as a temporary workaround, consider disabling cellular radios when not in use to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
