CVE-2018-16982

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Open Chinese Convert (OpenCC) version 1.0.5
Description The issue allows attackers to cause a denial of service, resulting in a segmentation fault. This occurs because the BinaryDict::NewFromFile function in BinaryDict.cpp may have out-of-bounds keyOffset and valueOffset values when processing a crafted .ocd file.
Recommendations For Open Chinese Convert (OpenCC) version 1.0.5, consider avoiding the use of crafted .ocd files until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, restrict access to the BinaryDict::NewFromFile function in BinaryDict.cpp to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
