CVE-2018-17671

CVSS v3.1

8.8

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Foxit Reader version 9.2.0.9297
Description This issue allows remote attackers to disclose sensitive information on vulnerable installations. User interaction is required, where the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The flaw exists within the handling of the Lower method of a XFA object, resulting from the lack of proper validation of user-supplied data. This can lead to a read past the end of an allocated buffer, allowing an attacker to execute code in the context of the current process.
Recommendations For Foxit Reader version 9.2.0.9297, consider disabling the Lower method of XFA objects as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to potentially malicious files or web pages to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
