CVE-2018-3055

CVSS v3.1

7.1

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Oracle VM VirtualBox versions prior to 5.2.16
Description The issue is related to insufficient access control in the Core component of Oracle VM VirtualBox, allowing an unauthenticated attacker with logon to the infrastructure to compromise Oracle VM VirtualBox. Successful attacks require human interaction and may significantly impact additional products. This can result in unauthorized ability to cause a hang or crash of Oracle VM VirtualBox and unauthorized read access to a subset of Oracle VM VirtualBox accessible data.
Recommendations For versions prior to 5.2.16, update to version 5.2.16 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the Core component of Oracle VM VirtualBox to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the crUnpackExtendAreTexturesResident and crUnpackExtendAreProgramsResidentNV functions in the affected Oracle VM VirtualBox component until the issue is resolved.
