CVE-2018-20217

CVSS v3.1

5.3

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions MIT Kerberos 5 (aka krb5) versions prior to 1.17
Description A Reachable Assertion issue was discovered in the KDC. If an attacker can obtain a krbtgt ticket using an older encryption type (single-DES, triple-DES, or RC4), the attacker can crash the KDC by making an S4U2Self request.
Recommendations For versions prior to 1.17, update to version 1.17 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of older encryption types (single-DES, triple-DES, or RC4) for obtaining krbtgt tickets until a patch is applied.
