Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Java SE versions 6u171, 7u161, 8u152, and 9.0.1
Java SE Embedded version 8u151
Description
The issue allows an unauthenticated attacker with logon to the infrastructure where Java SE or Java SE Embedded executes to compromise Java SE or Java SE Embedded. Successful attacks require human interaction from a person other than the attacker and can result in unauthorized update, insert, or delete access to some of Java SE or Java SE Embedded accessible data, as well as unauthorized read access to a subset of Java SE or Java SE Embedded accessible data and unauthorized ability to cause a partial denial of service of Java SE or Java SE Embedded. This issue applies to Java deployments that load and run untrusted code and rely on the Java sandbox for security.
Recommendations
For Java SE versions 6u171, 7u161, 8u152, and 9.0.1, update to a version that is not affected by this issue.
For Java SE Embedded version 8u151, update to a version that is not affected by this issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the execution of untrusted code in Java deployments to minimize the risk of exploitation.
