Description
A difficult to exploit vulnerability allows an unauthenticated attacker with network access via multiple protocols to compromise Java SE, Java SE Embedded, JRockit. Successful attacks require human interaction from a person other than the attacker. This vulnerability can result in unauthorized creation, deletion or modification access to critical data or all Java SE, Java SE Embedded, JRockit accessible data. It applies to client and server deployment of Java and can be exploited through sandboxed Java Web Start applications, sandboxed Java applets, or by supplying data to APIs in the specified component.
Recommendations
For Java SE versions 6u171, 7u161, 8u152 and 9.0.1, update to a version that contains a fix for this issue.
For Java SE Embedded version 8u151, update to a version that contains a fix for this issue.
For JRockit version R28.3.16, update to a version that contains a fix for this issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the JGSS component until a patch is available.
Avoid using sandboxed Java Web Start applications and sandboxed Java applets until the issue is resolved.
