Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Java SE versions 6u171, 7u161, 8u152 and 9.0.1
Java SE Embedded version 8u151
Description
The issue allows an unauthenticated attacker with network access via multiple protocols to compromise Java SE and Java SE Embedded. Successful attacks require human interaction from a person other than the attacker and may significantly impact additional products. This can result in unauthorized creation, deletion, or modification access to critical data or all Java SE and Java SE Embedded accessible data. The issue applies to Java deployments in clients running sandboxed Java Web Start applications or sandboxed Java applets that load and run untrusted code and rely on the Java sandbox for security.
Recommendations
For Java SE versions 6u171, 7u161, 8u152, and 9.0.1, update to a version that is not affected by this issue.
For Java SE Embedded version 8u151, update to a version that is not affected by this issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of the Java sandbox in affected deployments until a patch is available.
Avoid running untrusted code in Java Web Start applications or Java applets until the issue is resolved.
