Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Pixar Renderman IT Display Service version 21.6
Description
A denial-of-service issue exists due to improper validation of network packets. The application listens for connections on port 4001 after being opened by a user. An attacker can exploit this by delivering a malicious packet, potentially leading to a null pointer dereference due to unvalidated data.
Recommendations
For Pixar Renderman IT Display Service version 21.6, consider restricting access to port 4001 until a fix is available. As a temporary workaround, avoid using the application to listen for connections on this port to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.
