| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Samsung SmartThings Hub STH-ETH-250-Firmware version 0.20.17
Description
A buffer overflow issue exists in the credentials handler of the video-core's HTTP server. The video-core process incorrectly handles fields from a user-controlled JSON payload, leading to a buffer overflow on the stack. This occurs because the strncpy function overflows the destination buffer, which has a size of 2,000 bytes. An attacker can exploit this by sending an arbitrarily long
sessionToken value.Recommendations
For Samsung SmartThings Hub STH-ETH-250-Firmware version 0.20.17, consider restricting the length of the
sessionToken value in the JSON payload to prevent buffer overflow until a patch is available.Exploit
