| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Samsung SmartThings Hub STH-ETH-250 version 0.20.17
Description
A buffer overflow issue exists in the camera "create" feature of the video-core's HTTP server. The video-core process incorrectly extracts the
state field from a user-controlled JSON payload, leading to a buffer overflow on the stack. An attacker can send an HTTP request to trigger this issue.Recommendations
For Samsung SmartThings Hub STH-ETH-250 version 0.20.17, consider disabling the camera "create" feature until a patch is available. Restrict access to the video-core's HTTP server to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the
state field in user-controlled JSON payloads for the affected feature until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.Exploit
