CVE-2018-4021

CVSS v3.1

7.2

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions pfSense CE version 2.4.4-RELEASE
Description A command injection issue exists in the way pfSense CE processes the parameters of a specific POST request, allowing an attacker to execute arbitrary commands on the system. The attacker must be able to send authenticated POST requests to the administration web interface. Command injection is possible in the powerd battery mode parameter.
Recommendations For pfSense CE version 2.4.4-RELEASE, as a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the administration web interface to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the powerd battery mode parameter in the affected POST request until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
