CVE-2018-5702

CVSS v3.1

8.8

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions: Transmission versions prior to 2.93
Description: The issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary RPC commands and write to arbitrary files via POST requests to "/transmission/rpc" in conjunction with a DNS rebinding attack. This is possible because Transmission through version 2.92 relies on the X-Transmission-Session-Id for access control, which is not a forbidden header for Fetch.
Recommendations: For Transmission versions prior to 2.93, update to version 2.93 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the "/transmission/rpc" endpoint to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the X-Transmission-Session-Id header in the affected API endpoint until the issue is resolved.
