Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Cisco Webex Network Recording Player for Microsoft Windows (affected versions not specified)
Cisco Webex Player for Microsoft Windows (affected versions not specified)
Description
A vulnerability in the Cisco Webex software could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code on an affected system. The issue exists because the software improperly validates Advanced Recording Format (ARF) and Webex Recording Format (WRF) files. An attacker could exploit this by sending a malicious ARF or WRF file to a user and persuading them to open it with the affected software. This could allow the attacker to execute arbitrary code on the system.
Recommendations
For Cisco Webex Network Recording Player for Microsoft Windows, update to a version that properly validates ARF and WRF files to prevent exploitation.
For Cisco Webex Player for Microsoft Windows, consider disabling the handling of ARF and WRF files until a patch is available to minimize the risk of exploitation.
As a temporary workaround, avoid opening ARF and WRF files from untrusted sources to reduce the risk of arbitrary code execution.
