Description
A vulnerability exists in the Cisco Webex Network Recording Player and the Cisco Webex Player for Microsoft Windows due to improper validation of Advanced Recording Format (ARF) and Webex Recording Format (WRF) files. This could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code on an affected system by sending a malicious ARF or WRF file via a link or email attachment and persuading the user to open the file using the affected software.
Recommendations
For Cisco Webex Network Recording Player for Microsoft Windows, update to a version that properly validates ARF and WRF files to prevent arbitrary code execution.
For Cisco Webex Player for Microsoft Windows, update to a version that properly validates ARF and WRF files to prevent arbitrary code execution.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of ARF and WRF files in the affected software until a patch is available.
