CVSS v3.1

7.5

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Wireshark versions 2.2.0 through 2.2.12 Wireshark versions 2.4.0 through 2.4.4
Description The NBAP dissector in Wireshark could crash due to incorrect initialization of the DCH ID. This issue allows attackers to cause a denial of service by using a malformed packet trace file.
Recommendations For Wireshark versions 2.2.0 through 2.2.12, update the nbap.cnf file in epan/dissectors/asn1/nbap/ to ensure DCH ID initialization. For Wireshark versions 2.4.0 through 2.4.4, update the nbap.cnf file in epan/dissectors/asn1/nbap/ to ensure DCH ID initialization. As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the NBAP dissector until a patch is available.
