CVE-2018-3155

CVSS v3.1

7.7

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions MySQL Server versions 5.7.23 and prior MySQL Server versions 8.0.12 and prior
Description The issue is related to inadequate access control in the MySQL Server component, specifically in the Server: Parser subcomponent. This allows an attacker with network access via multiple protocols to compromise the MySQL Server. Successful attacks can result in the unauthorized ability to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash (complete DOS) of the MySQL Server. The vulnerability can be exploited by an attacker with low privileges. While the vulnerability is in the MySQL Server, attacks may significantly impact additional products.
Recommendations For MySQL Server versions 5.7.23 and prior, update to a version later than 5.7.23 to resolve the issue. For MySQL Server versions 8.0.12 and prior, update to a version later than 8.0.12 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting network access to the MySQL Server until a patch is available.
