CVE-2018-11251

CVSS v3.1

6.5

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions ImageMagick versions 7.0.7-23
Description The issue is related to incorrect memory handling in the console graphics editor. It may allow a remote attacker to cause a denial of service or execute arbitrary code by exploiting a heap-based buffer over-read in the ReadSUNImage function in coders/sun.c via a crafted SUN image file, potentially leading to an application crash in SetGrayscaleImage in MagickCore/quantize.c.
Recommendations For ImageMagick version 7.0.7-23, consider updating to a newer version to mitigate the risk, as the current version contains a heap-based buffer over-read that can be exploited. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
