Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Foxit Reader version 9.0.0.29935
Description
This issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on vulnerable installations. User interaction is required, where the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The flaw exists within the parsing of TIFF files due to the lack of proper validation of the length of user-supplied data prior to copying it to a fixed-length, heap-based buffer. An attacker can leverage this to execute code under the context of the current process.
Recommendations
For Foxit Reader version 9.0.0.29935, consider disabling the TIFF parsing functionality until a patch is available to prevent exploitation. Restrict access to malicious files and websites to minimize the risk of remote code execution.
