CVE-2018-9957

CVSS v3.1

8.8

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Foxit Reader version 9.0.1.1049
Description This issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on vulnerable installations. User interaction is required, where the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The flaw exists within the handling of XFA Button elements, specifically when parsing arguments passed to the resetData method, which does not properly validate the existence of an object prior to performing operations on it. This can be leveraged to execute code under the context of the current process.
Recommendations For Foxit Reader version 9.0.1.1049, consider disabling the handling of XFA Button elements or restricting access to the resetData method as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
