CVE-2018-9982

CVSS v3.1

8.8

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Foxit Reader version 9.0.0.29935
Description This issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on vulnerable installations. User interaction is required, where the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The flaw exists within the parsing of the Texture Width in U3D files due to the lack of proper validation of user-supplied data. This can result in a write past the end of an allocated object, allowing an attacker to execute code under the context of the current process.
Recommendations For Foxit Reader version 9.0.0.29935, consider disabling the parsing of U3D files until a patch is available to prevent exploitation. Restrict access to potentially malicious files and websites to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
