Description An issue was discovered in JupyterHub OAuthenticator. When using JupyterHub with GitLab group whitelisting for access control, group membership was not checked correctly. This allowed members not in the whitelisted groups to create accounts on the Hub linked to their GitLab account. Users were not allowed to access other users' accounts, but could create their own accounts on the Hub. GitLab authentication not using gitlab group whitelist is unaffected.

Recommendations For JupyterHub OAuthenticator versions 0.6.x through 0.6.1, update to version 0.6.2 or later. For JupyterHub OAuthenticator versions 0.7.x through 0.7.2, update to version 0.7.3 or later.
