Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Oracle PeopleSoft Products version 8.55
Oracle PeopleSoft Products version 8.56
Description
The issue is related to inadequate access control in the Portal component of Oracle PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools. It allows an unauthenticated attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools. Successful attacks require human interaction from a person other than the attacker and may significantly impact additional products. This can result in unauthorized update, insert, or delete access to some of PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools accessible data, as well as unauthorized read access to a subset of PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools accessible data.
Recommendations
For version 8.55, update the access control mechanisms in the Portal component to restrict unauthorized access.
For version 8.56, apply the necessary patches or configuration changes to the PeopleTools component to mitigate the risk of exploitation.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the Portal component until a patch is available.
Fix
