Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools versions 8.55 through 8.56
Description
The issue is related to inadequate access control in the PIA Core Technology component of Oracle PeopleSoft Products. It allows an unauthenticated attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools. Successful attacks require human interaction from a person other than the attacker and may significantly impact additional products. This can result in unauthorized update, insert, or delete access to some of PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools accessible data, as well as unauthorized read access to a subset of PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools accessible data.
Recommendations
For versions 8.55 and 8.56, consider restricting access to the PIA Core Technology component until a patch is available.
As a temporary workaround, limit the use of HTTP protocol for accessing PeopleSoft Enterprise PeopleTools to minimize the risk of exploitation.
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
