| Vector | AV:L/AC:H/PR:H/UI:N/S:C/C:N/I:N/A:H |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Oracle MySQL versions 5.5.61 and prior
Oracle MySQL versions 5.6.41 and prior
Oracle MySQL versions 5.7.23 and prior
Oracle MySQL versions 8.0.12 and prior
Description
The issue is related to the Client programs component of Oracle MySQL Server and is associated with inadequate access control. It allows a high-privileged attacker with logon access to the infrastructure where MySQL Server executes to compromise MySQL Server. Successful attacks can result in unauthorized ability to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash (complete DOS) of MySQL Server. This can significantly impact additional products.
Recommendations
For Oracle MySQL version 5.5.61 and prior, update to a version later than 5.5.61 to resolve the issue.
For Oracle MySQL version 5.6.41 and prior, update to a version later than 5.6.41 to resolve the issue.
For Oracle MySQL version 5.7.23 and prior, update to a version later than 5.7.23 to resolve the issue.
For Oracle MySQL version 8.0.12 and prior, update to a version later than 8.0.12 to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the MySQL Server component to minimize the risk of exploitation.
