CVE-2018-3171

CVSS v3.1

5.0

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:H/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions MySQL Server versions 5.7.23 and prior MySQL Server versions 8.0.12 and prior
Description The issue is related to inadequate access control in the MySQL Server component of Oracle MySQL, specifically in the Server: Partition subcomponent. This can be exploited by a remote attacker to gain unauthorized access to protected data or cause a denial of service. The vulnerability allows a high-privileged attacker with network access via multiple protocols to compromise the MySQL Server, potentially resulting in the ability to cause a hang or crash of the server, as well as unauthorized update, insert, or delete access to some of the server's accessible data.
Recommendations For MySQL Server versions 5.7.23 and prior, update to a version later than 5.7.23 to resolve the issue. For MySQL Server versions 8.0.12 and prior, update to a version later than 8.0.12 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting network access to the MySQL Server to minimize the risk of exploitation.
