CVE-2018-10963

CVSS v3.1

6.5

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions LibTIFF versions prior to 4.0.9
Description The issue is related to insufficient input validation in the TIFFWriteDirectorySec() function, which can be exploited by remote attackers to cause a denial of service, resulting in an assertion failure and application crash. This can be achieved through a crafted file.
Recommendations For versions prior to 4.0.9, update to version 4.0.9 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of the TIFFWriteDirectorySec() function until a patch is available.
