CVE-2018-14661

CVSS v2.0

6.8

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:S/C:N/I:N/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions glusterfs version 3.8.4
Description The issue is related to the usage of the snprintf function in the feature/locks translator of the glusterfs server, which is vulnerable to a format string attack. A remote, authenticated attacker could exploit this to cause a remote denial of service. The vulnerability is associated with the use of an uncontrolled format string, allowing a remote attacker to disrupt service.
Recommendations For glusterfs version 3.8.4, consider restricting access to the feature/locks translator until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, limiting the use of the snprintf function in this context may help minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
