CVSS v3.1

9.1

Critical

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions VideoLAN VLC media player version 3.0.4
Description The issue is related to the CAF demuxer in the VideoLAN VLC media player. It may read memory from an uninitialized pointer when processing magic cookies in CAF files. This could result in a denial of service and/or a potential infoleak. The vulnerability is caused by an integer overflow in the ReadKukiChunk() function, which can allow a remote attacker to cause a denial of service and/or gain access to confidential data.
Recommendations For version 3.0.4, consider updating to a newer version that addresses this issue, as the current version may allow a denial of service and/or a potential infoleak due to the vulnerability in the CAF demuxer. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
