Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux (affected versions not specified)
Description
The issue is related to a memory deallocation error in the Linux kernel's implementation of the if cs probe handler, specifically in the libertas cs.ko driver. This error can be exploited to cause a denial of service when a Marvell 8385 based compact flash WLAN card is connected, leading to an incorrect situation in the if cs read8 function. The problem arises because memory allocated in the card variable within the if cs probe function (if cs.c) is not released when an error occurs during the if cs read8 function's attempt to read from the device.
