Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux (affected versions not specified)
Description
The issue is related to a memory deallocation error in the smsc75xx bind handler of the Linux kernel, specifically in the drivers/net/usb/smsc75xx.ko module. This error can be exploited to cause a denial of service when a SMSC75XX USB 2.0 Gigabit Ethernet device is connected, leading to an incorrect situation in the
smsc75xx wait ready function. The smsc75xx bind function, called from kalmia bind, allocates memory in the dev->data[0] field, but this memory is not released when an error occurs in smsc75xx wait ready, which can be caused by incorrect device operation.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
