Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
The issue is related to a memory leak in the Linux kernel's implementation of the maxiradio remove handler for the drivers/media/radio/radio-maxiradio.ko module. This leak occurs because memory allocated for the dev device in the maxiradio probe function, called when the module is loaded, is not freed in the maxiradio remove function when the module is unloaded. An attacker could exploit this by repeatedly connecting and disconnecting the Guillemot Maxi Radio FM 2000 device, potentially leading to a denial of service in the operating system.
Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
