Description The issue is related to weaknesses in the authentication procedure of SaltStack Salt, a configuration management and remote execution system. This weakness can be exploited by a remote attacker to bypass authentication or execute arbitrary commands via the salt-api (netapi).

Recommendations For SaltStack Salt versions 2016.11.x through 2016.11.10, update to version 2016.11.10 or later. For SaltStack Salt versions 2017.7.x through 2017.7.8, update to version 2017.7.8 or later. For SaltStack Salt versions 2018.3.x through 2018.3.3, update to version 2018.3.3 or later. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the salt-api (netapi) until a patch is applied.
