CVE-2018-1977

CVSS v3.1

6.5

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions IBM DB2 for Linux, UNIX and Windows 11.1 (includes DB2 Connect Server)
Description The issue is related to insufficient input validation in the implementation of the TRUNCATE function in IBM DB2, which can be exploited by a remote attacker to cause a denial of service. This can be achieved by sending a specially crafted SQL SELECT statement that utilizes the TRUNCATE function.
Recommendations For IBM DB2 for Linux, UNIX and Windows 11.1 (includes DB2 Connect Server), consider restricting access to the TRUNCATE function until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, avoid using the TRUNCATE function in SELECT statements to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
