CVE-2018-2781

CVSS v2.0

6.8

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:S/C:N/I:N/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Oracle MySQL versions 5.5.59 and prior Oracle MySQL versions 5.6.39 and prior Oracle MySQL versions 5.7.21 and prior
Description The issue is related to the MySQL Server component, specifically the Server: Optimizer subcomponent, and is caused by inadequate access control. It allows a high-privileged attacker with network access via multiple protocols to compromise the MySQL Server. Successful attacks can result in the ability to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash (complete DOS) of the MySQL Server.
Recommendations For versions 5.5.59 and prior, update to a version later than 5.5.59 to resolve the issue. For versions 5.6.39 and prior, update to a version later than 5.6.39 to resolve the issue. For versions 5.7.21 and prior, update to a version later than 5.7.21 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the MySQL protocol to minimize the risk of exploitation.
